Custom Furniture Factory Audit Report
Verified. Reliable. Ready to Deliver
We visited the factory on 11 August, where we were welcomed and given a tour by the owner. The factory owner previously served as the responsible manager for a large Chinese chair manufacturer in Dalian. As the business expanded, establishing a local manufacturing facility became a strategic move to reduce overall operating costs and improve production efficiency. The Dalian factory was subsequently established by the current owner in 2015 and gradually developed into an independent manufacturing operation.
Initially focused primarily on chair production, the factory expanded its capabilities as competition within the chair market increased. It subsequently began producing customised sofas and gradually broadened its manufacturing expertise across a wider range of furniture products. Today, the factory has the capability to design and manufacture a broad range of furniture, including chairs, sofas, desks, cabinets, beds and bookshelves, as well as provide customised furniture solutions according to individual project requirements.
In addition to working with distributors, trading companies and other sales channels, the owner operates a sizeable retail showroom within a furniture shopping mall in Dalian. The showroom serves as a direct sales channel and showcases completed furniture products as well as project-based furniture solutions.
The factory’s customer base covers a diverse range of applications and customer types, including schools, government projects, office buildings, chain restaurants and cafés, hotels, KTV venues, Amazon sellers, and retail customers undertaking whole-house customisation projects.
Referral Background:
The factory was referred to us by the owner of a chain restaurant with multiple projects in China. Several of her restaurant projects in Dalian have previously been carried out by this manufacturer. The manufacturer was also involved in a more recent restaurant project for her in Ho-Chi-Minh city/ Vietnam at the end of 2025.
Audit Observation:
During the factory visit, I observed production activities covering multiple furniture categories, including office chairs, desks and sofas. The factory demonstrated its production equipment, manufacturing areas and processes, indicating the capability to handle both standardised and customised furniture projects.
The owner also provided access to historical project records, including client-provided design files, reference photographs, and designs developed in-house based on specific client requirements, together with examples of completed projects and corresponding finished products. These records provided additional evidence of the factory’s experience in handling customised furniture projects.
The project records and discussions with the owner also indicated a high level of direct involvement in project management and quality control. According to the information demonstrated during the visit, individual projects are managed through dedicated communication groups, in which the owner personally follows project progress, coordinates key decisions and monitors quality-related matters.

Observation
Risk Level
Destination-market compliance
The factory relies on third-party suppliers for certain raw materials and components. While supplier certificates are available for some materials, destination-specific compliance requirements may require additional verification where applicable.
Low
International business readiness
The factory primarily serves domestic customers, with no dedicated foreign-language personnel identified during the audit. Limited experience with international export documentation and export-related procedures were also observed, which may require additional support when handling overseas orders.
Medium
In-process Quality Control
Quality review is primarily conducted toward the completion stage. A structured, documented QC process covering key production stages was not clearly evidenced during the audit.
Low-Medium
Peak-season capacity
Production capacity tends to become highly occupied toward the end of the year, which may require earlier production planning during peak periods.
